Sick…
Been totally out of it the past little while thanks to the latest strain of the common cold, so here’s a little look what i’ve been up to. First off there’s a final touched up version of the High Nuclear Noon poster that i’m finally getting around to uploading (if you want a copy drop me a line). The second is a little preview for what I’m working on at the moment.

I’ve also gotten Andrew and Simon (my roomate) to help come up with ideas for the Windego story so he may post some of that as well as that mini-project progresses.
On the benefits of a writing group meeting in person
Writing group meets in person today, as opposed to the usual MSN Messenger thing. This happens every couple of months or so. I prefer the in person meetings for two reasons. The first is that we almost always manage to get more accomplished; all communication seems to become a little clearer (even for writers, sometimes instant messaging just doesn’t cut it). The second and most important reason is that near where we meet there is a coffee shop that sells enourmous slices of a very high quality carrot cake with real cream cheese icing at an affordable price. Delicious. And filling.
One might argue that “filling” is not necessarily a desirable quality in a dessert. In this particular case, I disagree.

I figured that since I’m wanting to be a character based illustrator i should start making some of my concepts to look finished. Here’s a dog-man with sparse fur which was subconsciously influenced by Joy Ang’s original character. More of these are on the way with hopefully a range of friendly and enemy creatures along with some human designs.

I’ve also gotten interested in the Algonquian myth of the wendigo and have been doing some sketches involving that. This was kind of tough considering the body type described in the myth heavily resembles that of the pale man from Pan’s Labyrinth. So in an attempt to push it further ill be doing things like contorting the body more and making his head more teethy. Also i’m trying to play with the whole distended stomach but push it more. More on this one soon purhaps.

On a side note, the gallery section should be up and running soon - lots of thanks to steve.
