I don’t put much stock in Nicholas Cage’s “acting” abilities, so I figured from the trailer this would bomb. I haven’t seen it, I have no intentions, but your article was an interesting read, if that alone can redeem a shitty, abused art form.

Hi Lyn,

Were you an Arts major? I’ve taken English courses that were similar to what was shown in the film, but never a science class.

I didn’t go to MIT, though, so it is perfectly possible that what was shown is exactly how things are done there. If that’s the case, though, I don’t really see the value in being quizzed on high school level trivia about the subject, followed by a completely wrong-headed description of determinism.

I disagree. I went to a top American college for 3 years and this classroom scenario fits exactly to my experience.

Professor asks students questions, we reply, esp. the know-it-all types, and some professors do mix in the pseudo-philosophical stuff.

So I thought this scene was brilliant. Hmm…did you go to MIT?

I read the movie spoiler, and it didn’t sound awful.

One can assume, that as usual, Nicholas Cage just brings the movie down.

why… did you see this movie? There was not a single redeeming thing in the trailers, you obviously knew it was going to be terrible but it was more terrible than you could have imagined. Why waste 15 dollars!

I’m seeing Duplicity tonight, at least the trailers for that make it seem like there might be some sort of goodness buried in there.
